yell o’bar has been a corner bar as far back as the 1940s, always attracting neighborhood folks and once frequented by retired sailors residing at biddle hall. the impressive building across the street was the first u.s. naval asylum built in 1833 and designed by renowned architect william strickland. 

years ago people knew yell o’bar as family house. in the 90s it was pandora’s box (the sign now in place

continuing a neighborhood tradition

over the rear entry to the beer garden pays homage.) then in 2007, three neighborhood guys with vision, passion and commitment opened yell o’bar, promising to bring people of all ages, walks and colors, together again on this philadelphia corner.
